Recap & Reflections - Knoxville
Another one of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido, but I know which one this is. These are porters carrying goods and banners in the procession of a daimyo (feudal lord) across the Nihombashi, the Japan Bridge in Edo. If you look in the picture at the red seal, the three vertically aligned characters to its right read "ni-hom-bashi." I would guess that the characters to the right of that say "53 Stations of the Tokaido." The characters in the fence at the bottom right are Hiroshige's signature and seal. In the left margin is the publisher's mark.
