In the Shitamachi museum, a rickshaw from no later than the Meiji Era (1876-1912). The Japanese often refer to past years by the name of the Emperor at the time and the year of his reign. For instance, 1880 was the fifth year of Emperor Meiji's reign, so it's referred to as Meiji 5. And the Emperors go by different names. Everyone remembers Emperor Hirohito. Now that he is dead, he is referred to as "the Showa Emperor," and the years of his reign are referred to as "the Showa Era."
